These are some of the concepts for a new logo that im working on. ive used J and M for Jamall McMillan and the J R for Jamall Rashaud. Its my middle and for me it works better. there are various reasons as well why I would use my middle name. I have other concepts to created on the computer as well

OMG!
This is huge on the design look you got going here bro! And already, I feel like you're right there, but still far away at the same time.
I really like the designs in the middle row. Instead of keeping it as an "R", what if you take that same shape and do a reflection to create the "M"? And the points don't cross each other like you have in the first row of designs....and they don't touch either...just be close enough to show that it's an "M".
Just a suggestion. But really have a concept for this design, why you went this route, as well as the colors you're using. Other than that, this logo design is a huge turn around and it's making me excited! I rarely say this, but I gotta say it: Now that's what I'm talkin' about. ;)
