The Updates on the Great Gatsby Book Cover

ok ive gotten the type on the back situated as well as the silhouette. That took days lol but its fixed the best way that i could get it. i still am going to play around with it some more if i see that it needs it. I am going to start working on the image that is going through the silhouette so that it will be finished when i go to print and cut it out.

For the red and green it basically is similar to the concept behind the cover with the silhouette. I want to focus on Gatsby's love for daisy and the green light that he stared at which was her house across the docks. The city of new york symbolizes peoples desire to make their dreams come true and New York is the city where dreams are made of. The red in the city symbolizes passion and this is what people have in the city and when they see it. New York City inspires people. However the green in the empire state building represents Gatsby's desire. Its supposed to be a play off of the green light in the silhouette to give the back and front some unity. Red and Green are compliments of each other so i thought that contrast would help in the concept; however, i am still fond of the white and black. I need insight and help on which direction i should go with. im open for any suggestions. i stilll need to play with the type on the side but im trying to keep things clean and different from any Great Gatsby book.

These are the latest designs for the cover. Im playing around with the type. Its not even close to where i want it to be but its getting there. Im focusing on the idea of the American Dream. I will explain it more in further detail. The extended covers is just a sleeve for the actual book which is the center image. That picture is just for placement. Im working on my own drawing right now.

Tres- I know that it has rivers and i am going to fix them and i am going to change my blog lol

this is the initial start. i took what he requested and started to play with the concept and colors that he chose. I am going to add some design element. He wants something graphic and powerful so thats what I'm going to give him.

ok the class liked the designs but as always i could always push it. i had to find a bridge to connect the really professional logo with the bold energetic logo. so here is the start of it. i think its getting there

Here is the contrast design to the previous logo idea. I wanted to create something different. that could be both professional as well as energetic. this was the other idea that was chosen in class so i wanted to put it in illustrator and play around with it a little bit

New logo ideas

These are some of the concepts for a new logo that im working on. ive used J and M for Jamall McMillan and the J R for Jamall Rashaud. Its my middle and for me it works better. there are various reasons as well why I would use my middle name. I have other concepts to created on the computer as well

The outgoing, positive polarity of Capricorn is applied on a practical basis to his or her everyday life. The negativity of this sign gives the children of Capricorn the ability to withdraw from a situation and wait for the right opportunity to further their ambitions. One type of this sign is like the sure footed mountain goat, that is forever climbing and attaining greater heights. The other type is the domesticated goat that is kept on a lead and is forever striving to do something but can never quite make it. Positive Capricorns are reliable and along with other good attributes, they have a dry but good sense of humor. Their positive traits are being practical, ambitious, prudent efficient, persistent and patient. They are ruled by the concentrated energy of Saturn. They can be very cold and distant, pessimistic, almost intolerably conventional. Time is always of the utmost importance to them due to Saturns influence. They are slow to develop, requiring more time than others but at middle age they seem to reach a point where it seems they will never age; not changing for decades. The worst problem that Capricorn seems to have is psychological in nature.

Their wavering self confidence can greatly disturb them as one minute they could rule a nation and the next, self doubt sets in and they feel inadequate for the most minor jobs; they are comfortable in some spheres of activity and not so in others. They may feel sure they can manage and cope with their job but have not the confidence to think they can establish and maintain a personal relationship. This is a direct cause of not being able to see themselves as clearly as others see them so they underestimate their own abilities. They should accept compliments from others and learn to believe them. Problems may cause some digestive difficulties which can lead to ulcers or skin disorders. Setting a stress alleviating regimen will go far to preventing these disorders and make you more efficient in your endeavors, thus building your own self image up to where it should be. You can be too easily depressed, even by minor setbacks and annoyances. You should get more exercise to reduce the tension as well as making music a part of your life, either playing or listening. Use your inherent rational qualities and make room in your life for the spiritual as well as the material.

Ok this was the project everyone was waiting for and now that its completely finished i can show it to you all. here is project 2010. the logo that i designed for the school. it wasnt chosen but they loved it and i was second overall to get it selected. I got the images completely copyrighted and now can officially show the work that i did.
